WEB ORDERS
How do I order via the web form (this is not the same as the UNFI online web ordering system)?
* It would be best to use the new web-based ordering system but if you are not comfortable with this method then follow these instructions:
Here is the link to the simple web-based ordering page:
http://www.unitedbuyingclubs.com/forms/FoodLinkOrderForm.htm
http://www.unitedbuyingclubs.com/forms/FoodLinkOrderForm.htm
(Note: This is different than the pending “integrated web-based UNFI system. This one is just a one-page, simple web form through which you can send an order to the coordinator. There’s no browsing of a product list.)
You have to use the printed catalog to look up items, prices, and item numbers. This means your data will often be out of date unless you have your own catalog subscription.
Here is how to fill out the fields at the top:
*Your Name: {your name}
*Your FOODLINK Member ID: {the ID I assigned you}
*Your Phone Number, with area code: Ext: {your phone #}
*Buying Club Name: Foothills
*Order Collator’s Email Address: foothills@kyfoothillscoop.com

How do I see the product listing via the web form?
How do I see the product listing via the web form?
It would be nice if there were an online equivalent to the paper catalog. “They’re working on it.”
In the meantime, they do have an online product listing—with no prices—that can be helpful in some instances. You can search or browse. Find out more here: How do I find out the ingredients for a product?

How do I upload the latest price list and/or setup file to the web site?
How do I upload the latest price list and/or setup file to the web site?
You don’t. Those are only for members who use the FoodLink software installed on their PC.
WEB ORDERS
Why would I want to use the FoodLink software instead of ordering via the simple web form site?
Why would I want to use the FoodLink software instead of ordering via the simple web form site?
With the FoodLink software installed on your PC, you will always have the most current prices. Also, orders done by the web site are more likely to have “product not found” errors when the buying club coordinator loads your order. (This is usually due to the item not being available through the specific warehouse our stuff ships from.)
Using the FoodLink software takes a little getting used to, but it will help reduce problems with your orders.
HOWEVER — FoodLink will eventually be phased out, probably in late 2008 or early 2009. Then everything will be done via UNFI’s new integrated web-based system. So, for now, you have to weigh the pros of using FoodLink vs. the con of having to spend time learning it for its remaining limited lifetime.
ITEMS AND SPECIALS
How do I tell which items are on special this month?
How do I tell which items are on special this month?
In the catalog …
Each item that is “on special” for this cycle will have a percentage number in the margin.
Be sure you’re using the right catalog—check the date range to make sure it covers this cycle’s truck-drop date. Also make sure that each item is available from our warehouse before you try to order it. The item is available from our warehouse if the WRHS field is blank or has a “G” among the letters.
In FoodLink …
Each item that is “on special” for this cycle will have a check mark in the box in the “Special” column.
You can see all items on special by going to the View/Search Pricelist screen and …
1.Setting the “Search in Field” drop-down list to “Specials”
2.Leaving the “Search for” field blank
3.Clicking the “Search Now” button.
The found results will be all of the specials available this time. Using the pull-down menu, you can sort the results by brand, item description, and other fields.
ITEMS AND SPECIALS
What are “Extra Specials” and when do we get them?
What are “Extra Specials” and when do we get them?
“Extra Specials” are specially priced items over and above the month’s specials. UNFI offers Extra Specials to the top 250 buying clubs ordering in the East and Midwest. So, if Foothills is currently ranked as such, we’ll get the Extra Specials message; if not, we don’t.
If Extra Specials are available, I’ll forward them to you at the time I send out the new price list. If you don’t get an Extra Specials message, then you can assume none are available for that cycle.
ITEMS AND SPECIALS
Why don’t the Extra Special prices show up in the catalog or FoodLink?
Why don’t the Extra Special prices show up in the catalog or FoodLink?
“Extra Specials” are specially priced items over and above the month’s specials, and hence are not listed in the printed catalog or FoodLink by design.

How do I find out the ingredients for a product?
How do I find out the ingredients for a product?
You can look up ingredients and nutritional information for many of the products offered by UNFI by using their web site.
Follow these steps:
2.Login using the following:
1.User Name (Email): 30324@unfibc.com
2.Password: 30324
1.You should end up on a page that says “Please click Product Info to view product information.” Click the Product Info link.
2.A new page will launch. To search, type the product ID for an item in the little box where it says “Search Products.”
3.Press Enter. A set of search results will appear — the item you’re looking for should be among them. Click on the “Product Code” number for that item and you’ll be taken to a page that has the item’s ingredients, nutrition information, and picture.
Comments:
1.If the login link I show in step 1 doesn’t work for you, go to http://www.unitedbuyingclubs.com/ and then navigate to the login page:
1.Click “Product Ingredients” on the left-side menu.
2.Click the link that says >>> Click here to LOG IN <<<
3.Then start again from step 2 above.
2.The site recommends using only the first five digits of the product ID, but my brief tests showed that the results were no different than when using the full six-digit ID number.
3.I don’t know why there are so many apparently unrelated items on some of the search-results lists. Bad programming, I guess.
4.There are also some browsing options listed on the left-side menu that you may find useful.
1. View By Brand
2. Bulk Foods
3. Dairy & Perishables
4. Frozen
5. Grocery & Beverages
6. Personal Care
7. Supplements
5.Each item’s data page has a “last updated date.” I note that some of these dates are rather old, so caveat emptor — the information may be out-of-date.
6.Prices are not listed on the data pages. Consult the catalog or FoodLink for current pricing info.
PICKUP

Unless otherwise stated, all pickups are at St Thomas Lutheran Church, located at 1285 Barnes Mill Rd, Richmond, KY. To get there from US-75, take exit 87 (Rt 876) west (away from Richmond); St Thomas Church will be about 0.9 miles on the left.
You can see a map by going to Map Quest (www.mapquest.com) and searching for the above address.

I can’t make the pickup day/time — what do I do?
Your only other option is to have a friend pick up the order for you. This could be another Foothills member, or it could be any ol’ friend. To make payment, please give the friend a check made out to Foothills but with the amount left blank so they can fill in the proper amount once the invoice is prepared.

I don’t have a computer. Can I still order?
There are two ways you can order even if you do not have a computer in your home:
(1) Use a computer at a nearby library to put the order in via the web site.
(2) Call Jenni Glenn at (E-mail for phone number – this is to prevent her phone number from falling into the hands of thousands of annoying people that want to hound her with sales calls, thank you for understanding) with your order (an extra 1% fee will be added to your order total for using this method). You will still need a Foothills Co-op Member ID to order, so if you have not contacted the Foothills Co-op Coordinator, please do so before using any type of ordering method.
